Hoopers is a low-impact sport suitable for dogs of all ages and abilities.
Many retired agility dogs are having lots of fun doing Hoopers, but unlike agility, Hoopers has no jumps. Instead, ground-level hoops are used for the dog to run through, together with tunnels and barrels.
Hoopers has the same pace and excitement as agility, but the courses are flowing with no tight turns. Handlers can choose to run with their dogs, or work towards distance handling - thus making it a fantastic sport for handlers with reduced mobility, and dogs of all ages and breeds. Hoopers can also help you to gain better off-lead control of your dog.
Our courses start by introducing you and your dog to this fabulous sport by working to build value in each piece of kit, and putting some short sequences together. As you progress and build a strong team with your dog you will be doing complete courses in no time. and if you wish to take this exciting sport further Janet can support and guide you into the competitive world of Hoopers.
Janet Rowbotham is an Advanced Accredited Canine Hoopers UK Instructor who discovered Hoopers when one of her dogs was diagnosed with degenerative spondylosis and had to retire from agility aged 4. She has been teaching Hoopers for 2 years, competes regularly with both her spaniels and is also a Canine Hoopers UK judge.
